From notification through completion and aftercare, here’s the complete timeline for our aeration and overseeding service. One week before: notification sent, customer marks sprinklers and confirms readiness. Service day: double-pass aeration performed, seed applied at 5 pounds per thousand, door hanger left with aftercare instructions. Week 1-4 post-service: intensive 2-3 times daily watering by customer, germination occurs days 7-14, first mowing around day 21-28. Week 5-6: once daily watering continues, grass establishment progresses, density improves visibly. Week 7+: normal watering resumes, herbicides can be applied after 3 mowings, free callback available for weed control, continued density improvement for 6-12 months.

Fertilizer effectiveness depends on nutrients reaching grass roots, but compacted soil blocks this pathway. Even with proper fertilization, compacted clay prevents nutrients from moving through soil to root zones where they’re needed. Aeration creates channels through compacted layers that allow fertilizers to penetrate deeply and reach roots. This improved nutrient access means existing fertilization programs become more effective, grass color and vigor improve even with the same fertilizer amounts, and your investment in fertilization delivers better returns. The combination of our 6-step fertilizer program plus annual aeration ensures nutrients both applied and able to reach roots—the complete solution for optimal nutrition.
After new grass establishes from overseeding, the tillering process creates progressive density improvement. Tillering is when individual grass plants send out side shoots that create additional plants connected to the original. One seed germinates into one plant, but that plant tillers to create 3-5 connected plants within months. Those plants continue tillering, and within a year, each original seed has created a cluster of 10-20 connected plants. This natural spreading is how grass thickens over time and why full density takes 6-12 months to achieve even with successful germination. Turf Type Tall Fescue tillers moderately, creating density through this process supplemented by the thick 5 pound per thousand seeding rate we use.

No, we have a minimum charge that covers up to 5,000 sq ft. Here's why we don't do small patches:
NO! Do not skip fertilizer. The fertilizer is very beneficial for new seed. Here's what happens:
We use a premium blend of 3 Turf Type Tall Fescue cultivars specifically selected for the Eastern Nebraska region. This seed blend includes varieties with excellent NTEP (National Turfgrass Evaluation Program) testing results, meaning they've proven superior performance in:
We apply 5 lbs per 1,000 sq ft as a standard rate. In very thin or completely bare areas, we apply even higher rates. This is a thick application designed to create a dense, lush lawn.
No, if you're on our 6-step fertilizer program, your soil will have plenty of nutrients for the seed. Adding starter fertilizer would create over-fertilization, which can actually harm new seedlings. Our program provides everything your seed needs to thrive.
This is THE critical factor for success. Follow this schedule exactly:
Critical: This is a guide. The soil surface MUST stay damp for seed to survive. New grass has no deep roots to access lower soil moisture—think of it like a newborn baby that needs frequent care.
We will NOT aerate or aerate and seed if sprinklers are not marked. We don't want the liability of damaged sprinklers. You must:
Minimal aftercare needed:
For aeration only: Lawn will look slightly messy for 1-2 weeks due to soil plugs on surface, but no damage. Plugs break down quickly.
For aeration & seeding: Very thin or bare areas may be completely torn up by the double-pass aeration—this is normal and beneficial. It creates maximum soil disruption for seed-to-soil contact. The lawn will look rough for 2-3 weeks, then new grass fills in beautifully.
