Both the historic campus and surrounding neighborhoods in Boys Town take great pride in their well-maintained lawns. However, these yards face significant challenges from summer fungal diseases when the weather gets hot. Our program runs from May through September, providing protection when Nebraska’s humid weather creates perfect conditions for brown patch and dollar spot. Boys Town’s location often leads to temperatures and humidity that exceed the critical 140 threshold. This triggers conditions where fungal outbreaks become inevitable without professional help. Our goal is to provide constant and reliable protection to preserve the beauty of these established properties during the most difficult months of the growing season. Common lawn diseases we treat:
Our fungicide applications use a sophisticated dual-action approach that combines two different types of products. Curative fungicides work on contact to kill existing infections immediately and stop the disease from spreading. This provides a quick fix for visible problems. Preventative fungicides work differently by being absorbed through the roots and moving throughout the whole plant. This systemic action protects new growth for about 30 days. This is why watering within 24 hours is absolutely critical; without it, the medicine cannot reach the root zone. The combination gives you both immediate control over current issues and long-term protection against future infections throughout the entire summer.
Fungal pathogens are always present in your lawn, living naturally in the soil and thatch. When conditions like high temperatures and humidity align, these diseases can explode. Overnight lows above 65°F and long periods of leaf wetness create the perfect environment for spores to germinate. Once an infection starts, it spreads rapidly; a small patch can grow to several square feet in just 3 to 5 days. Different diseases cause different symptoms, such as large brown circles or white powdery coatings on the blades. Regardless of the symptoms, the result is the same: permanently dead grass that will not recover without expensive and time-consuming reseeding.

Yes. Like all products we use, once the application is dry, it is safe for everyone—pets, children, and adults. Drying typically takes about 1 hour but may take longer on cool, cloudy days.
Safety protocol: Keep people and pets off the lawn until dry (usually 1 hour). After that, normal use can resume.
It depends on your lawn's history and grass type:
YES, you should do the program if:
NO, you probably don't need the program if:
HOWEVER: If you notice unusual brown, yellow, or dead spots during summer, contact us immediately so we can diagnose the issue. Early detection is critical.
No. This is why:
Bottom line: Reactive single treatments don't work for lawn fungus. The full preventative program is necessary for control.
It depends on your grass type:
Long-term solution: Overseeding with newer, disease-resistant grass cultivars can reduce (but not eliminate) the need for fungicide over time.
We use professional-grade fungicides that combine both curative and preventative active ingredients. We rotate between two different chemical mixes (Mix #1 and Mix #2) to prevent resistance development.
This is an all-liquid product that we spray onto the lawn. Liquid products:
This is why we exclusively use liquid fungicides—they're simply more effective
Great question. There are several reasons:
Value perspective: While more expensive than fertilizer, fungicide is cheaper than reseeding large dead areas from disease damage. Dead grass from fungus won't recover—it must be reseeded. Prevention costs less than repair.
