Monthly Service
Hickman’s family-friendly atmosphere extends to outdoor living, but pests can quickly ruin the enjoyment of your property. Our professional pest control services use monthly barrier treatments from April through October to keep homes bug-free and yards comfortable for all outdoor activities. Our service targets:
Our service effectively controls wasps and hornets in two ways: we directly spray any nests noticed during service, and treated surfaces discourage new nest formation on your foundation, eaves, and porches. However, we take great care to protect beneficial pollinators. We never spray flowering plants, trees, or shrubs where bees are actively foraging. Our contact sprays stay on surfaces rather than being absorbed into plant tissue and nectar, minimizing impact on bee populations when applied properly.
Skipping even one monthly treatment breaks the protective barrier and allows insects to re-establish on your property. After 30 days without treatment, the barrier has largely degraded due to weather, sunlight, and EPA-regulated product breakdown. New insects quickly move in, and your next treatment must eliminate populations all over again rather than simply maintaining the barrier. You’ll experience the flush-out effect again with increased visible activity. Continuous monthly service is the only way to maintain effective control.

Why Treatment Matters
Establish and maintain a barrier to prevent pests from entering your home or infesting your propery.

All our products are EPA-registered and applied according to label guidelines. We recommend keeping pets and children off treated areas until spray is completely dry, typically 1-2 hours. Once dry, normal activity is safe for people and pets. Our exterior-only application means no chemicals inside your living spaces—a safer approach than traditional interior pest control. For pet owners, the outdoor tick and flea control provided by Yard Guard actually reduces the need for excessive topical treatments on pets themselves.
At Yard Boss, we understand that you may have questions about our services, processes, and how we can help you achieve the perfect lawn. Whether you’re curious about our lawn care techniques, service areas, or the benefits of professional lawn maintenance, you’ll find the information you need right here. If you have any additional questions, feel free to reach out to our friendly team!
This varies by pest and situation:
Key point: This is preventative, not instant. The barrier builds protection over the first few months and maintains it thereafter.
Yes, in two ways:
Limitation: If you have active large nests in trees or structures, those may require specialized removal. Our monthly service prevents and controls typical wasp issues but isn't a replacement for professional nest removal when needed.
YES! In fact, we highly recommend this for pet owners:
Yard Guard is especially recommended for pet owners because outdoor flea/tick control dramatically reduces what pets bring inside and the pest exposure they experience.
You cannot skip treatments without losing control. Here's what happens:
This is preventative, not curative. Like any preventative measure (taking vitamins, changing oil, brushing teeth), skipping doses means the protection fails and you have to restart.
No! You do not need to be home:
Wait until spray is completely dry:
Safe after dry: Once dry, normal use is safe for people and pets
A few scenarios:
You could, but here's why we don't recommend it:
Better approach: Full-season service prevents all pests including mosquitoes, with best results when barrier is continuous
We take precautions to protect pollinators:
Bottom line: When applied properly (avoiding flowers, not spraying bees directly), our service has minimal impact on beneficial pollinators.
Once dry, rain won't wash it away:
