Monthly Service
Elkhorn’s mix of established neighborhoods and new developments requires pest control expertise that addresses diverse property types and homeowner expectations. Our barrier protection services deliver consistent, professional results across all Elkhorn properties with monthly treatments that prevent pest problems year after year. Our service targets:
While you can start service any time during the April-October season, starting in April provides the best results and value. Early start establishes the barrier before pest populations peak, meaning you prevent problems rather than react to them. The temporary flush-out effect after first treatment occurs in spring when outdoor living hasn’t peaked yet, not in July when you’re using your yard most. You get full seven-month protection rather than partial coverage. Starting mid-season saves minimal money (maybe 2-3 months of payments) while losing months of protection and dealing with the adjustment period during peak season.
Monthly service from April through October isn’t optional for effective pest control—it’s essential for three reasons. First, EPA regulations require pest control products to degrade within 30 days for environmental safety, especially products targeting flying insects like mosquitoes. After 30 days, the barrier has largely broken down from weather, sunlight, and irrigation exposure. Second, continuous insect pressure means new pests constantly arrive from surrounding areas—your property isn’t isolated from regional pest populations. Third, preventative control is far more effective than reactive control. Monthly treatments maintain a continuous barrier that prevents establishment rather than repeatedly eliminating re-established populations.

Why Treatment Matters
Establish and maintain a barrier to prevent pests from entering your home or infesting your propery.

If you have ants already inside your home before starting service, the exterior barrier will eliminate them over 1-2 monthly treatments without interior spraying. Ants inside must forage outside for food and water—they can’t survive long without leaving the home. When they cross our exterior barrier to forage, they contact the product and carry it back to the colony inside your walls. Within 2-3 treatments, interior colonies are typically eliminated and the barrier prevents new ants from entering. This exterior approach solves interior problems without putting chemicals in your living spaces.

This varies by pest and situation:
Key point: This is preventative, not instant. The barrier builds protection over the first few months and maintains it thereafter.
Yes, in two ways:
Limitation: If you have active large nests in trees or structures, those may require specialized removal. Our monthly service prevents and controls typical wasp issues but isn't a replacement for professional nest removal when needed.
YES! In fact, we highly recommend this for pet owners:
Yard Guard is especially recommended for pet owners because outdoor flea/tick control dramatically reduces what pets bring inside and the pest exposure they experience.
You cannot skip treatments without losing control. Here's what happens:
This is preventative, not curative. Like any preventative measure (taking vitamins, changing oil, brushing teeth), skipping doses means the protection fails and you have to restart.
No! You do not need to be home:
Wait until spray is completely dry:
Safe after dry: Once dry, normal use is safe for people and pets
A few scenarios:
You could, but here's why we don't recommend it:
Better approach: Full-season service prevents all pests including mosquitoes, with best results when barrier is continuous
We take precautions to protect pollinators:
Bottom line: When applied properly (avoiding flowers, not spraying bees directly), our service has minimal impact on beneficial pollinators.
Once dry, rain won't wash it away:
