Recommended For All Lawns:
Maintenance, healthy lawns needing soil improvement, properties not ready for seeding commitment
Aeration & Overseeding
August 15 – September 30
Best For:
Thin lawns, bare patches, outdated grass varieties, anyone committed to achieving the best possible lawn
Choosing between our two services depends on your lawn’s condition and your goals. Maintenance aeration is appropriate for healthy lawns that need annual soil health maintenance, provides compaction relief and improved root growth, requires minimal aftercare, and represents ongoing preventative care. Aeration and overseeding is appropriate for thin or bare lawns needing density improvement, introduces superior modern grass genetics, requires intensive 6-week watering commitment, and represents transformative lawn renovation. Both services use the same professional equipment, but overseeding includes double-pass aeration and seed application that maintenance aeration does not include.
Nebraska's Most Trusted Lawn Care Service
Wilber’s Czech heritage includes appreciation for quality craftsmanship and attention to detail, values that guide our aeration services. We use professional-grade equipment and proven techniques to deliver lawn improvements that build on Nebraska’s challenging clay soil rather than fighting against it.

Our aeration and overseeding service includes attention to areas where our aerator equipment cannot reach. Tight spaces along fences, around trees, near foundations, and other obstacles are hand-cultivated using specialized tools to open the soil, then seeded manually to ensure complete property coverage. This detail work ensures uniform results across your entire lawn rather than leaving gaps around obstacles. The combination of mechanical aeration in open areas plus hand cultivation in tight spaces provides the comprehensive coverage that creates uniformly dense, beautiful lawns.
Upon completion of aeration and overseeding service, we leave a detailed door hanger with specific aftercare instructions tailored to your service. This hanger includes the critical watering schedule broken down by week, when to resume mowing, when herbicides can be applied again, and contact information for questions. Following these instructions precisely determines success or failure of the investment you’ve made in overseeding. The door hanger serves as your reference guide through the 6-week establishment period when new grass is most vulnerable and requires specific care.

No, we have a minimum charge that covers up to 5,000 sq ft. Here's why we don't do small patches:
NO! Do not skip fertilizer. The fertilizer is very beneficial for new seed. Here's what happens:
We use a premium blend of 3 Turf Type Tall Fescue cultivars specifically selected for the Eastern Nebraska region. This seed blend includes varieties with excellent NTEP (National Turfgrass Evaluation Program) testing results, meaning they've proven superior performance in:
We apply 5 lbs per 1,000 sq ft as a standard rate. In very thin or completely bare areas, we apply even higher rates. This is a thick application designed to create a dense, lush lawn.
No, if you're on our 6-step fertilizer program, your soil will have plenty of nutrients for the seed. Adding starter fertilizer would create over-fertilization, which can actually harm new seedlings. Our program provides everything your seed needs to thrive.
This is THE critical factor for success. Follow this schedule exactly:
Critical: This is a guide. The soil surface MUST stay damp for seed to survive. New grass has no deep roots to access lower soil moisture—think of it like a newborn baby that needs frequent care.
We will NOT aerate or aerate and seed if sprinklers are not marked. We don't want the liability of damaged sprinklers. You must:
Minimal aftercare needed:
For aeration only: Lawn will look slightly messy for 1-2 weeks due to soil plugs on surface, but no damage. Plugs break down quickly.
For aeration & seeding: Very thin or bare areas may be completely torn up by the double-pass aeration—this is normal and beneficial. It creates maximum soil disruption for seed-to-soil contact. The lawn will look rough for 2-3 weeks, then new grass fills in beautifully.
