Crete features beautiful tree-lined streets and historic neighborhoods where homeowners take pride in their yards. However, these lawns face serious fungal challenges when hot and humid weather arrives. Our program provides five monthly applications from May through September to protect your turf when it is most vulnerable. Crete’s location means weather patterns frequently trigger our 140 Rule. When heat and humidity combined exceed 140, fungus becomes nearly inevitable without professional help. This program is specifically designed to guard your yard against brown patch and powdery mildew, ensuring your lawn stays healthy during the peak summer months when environmental conditions are ideal for fungal outbreaks and permanent turf damage that can ruin your curb appeal. Common lawn diseases we treat:
Proper habits significantly impact disease pressure in Crete lawns alongside our professional services. The most critical rule is to water only in the early morning between 4 AM and 8 AM and never at night. Tree-lined neighborhoods already have heavy morning dew; adding evening water extends leaf wetness to 12 hours, creating perfect conditions for spores. This single habit is likely the most important disease prevention measure you can take. You should also maintain a mowing height of 3.5 to 4 inches, especially in partially shaded areas. Taller grass develops deeper roots and stronger plants that can resist disease stress better. Finally, balanced nutrition through proper fertilization creates healthy grass that is less likely to get infected.
Our approach to lawn disease management is fundamentally preventative because reacting after the fact simply does not work. Waiting until you see fungus fails for several reasons. First, visible fungus means the grass is already permanently dead in those spots; you are treating damage that has already been done. Second, the weather conditions that caused the outbreak will persist all summer, causing the disease to return almost immediately after a reactive spray. Third, these diseases spread incredibly fast, turning a small patch into a large dead area in just 3 to 5 days. Our preventative approach stops the damage before it starts, using systemic medicine that protects your grass from the inside out all season long.

All of our treatments are applied as liquid sprays using professional equipment for uniform and precise coverage. Liquid products perform much better than granules because they are absorbed faster and provide better blade coverage for curative action. After each application, you must water your yard within 24 hours to move the medicine to the root zone where it can be absorbed. We rotate between two different chemical formulas to prevent resistance, which develops faster with fungicides than with any other lawn product. This rotation is essential for long-term effectiveness. Monthly applications are necessary because as your grass grows and you mow each week, you slowly remove the tissue that contains the protective medicine.

Yes. Like all products we use, once the application is dry, it is safe for everyone—pets, children, and adults. Drying typically takes about 1 hour but may take longer on cool, cloudy days.
Safety protocol: Keep people and pets off the lawn until dry (usually 1 hour). After that, normal use can resume.
It depends on your lawn's history and grass type:

NO, you probably don't need the program if:
HOWEVER: If you notice unusual brown, yellow, or dead spots during summer, contact us immediately so we can diagnose the issue. Early detection is critical.
No. This is why:
Bottom line: Reactive single treatments don't work for lawn fungus. The full preventative program is necessary for control.
It depends on your grass type:
Long-term solution: Overseeding with newer, disease-resistant grass cultivars can reduce (but not eliminate) the need for fungicide over time.
We use professional-grade fungicides that combine both curative and preventative active ingredients. We rotate between two different chemical mixes (Mix #1 and Mix #2) to prevent resistance development.
This is an all-liquid product that we spray onto the lawn. Liquid products:
This is why we exclusively use liquid fungicides—they're simply more effective
Great question. There are several reasons:
Value perspective: While more expensive than fertilizer, fungicide is cheaper than reseeding large dead areas from disease damage. Dead grass from fungus won't recover—it must be reseeded. Prevention costs less than repair.
