Recommended For All Lawns:
Maintenance, healthy lawns needing soil improvement, properties not ready for seeding commitment
Aeration & Overseeding
August 15 – September 30
Best For:
Thin lawns, bare patches, outdated grass varieties, anyone committed to achieving the best possible lawn
We understand that scheduling conflicts arise. If you need to reschedule your aeration service, we have designated reschedule weeks to accommodate changes. However, for overseeding specifically, timing matters enormously—rescheduling from early September to late September is fine, but rescheduling into October means we may recommend waiting until the following August-September window to ensure success. For maintenance aeration without seeding, the entire month of October is available, providing more flexibility for rescheduling.
Nebraska's Most Trusted Lawn Care Service
Gretna’s tremendous growth has created many newer properties where lawns are still developing and establishing. Our aeration services support this development for newer lawns while also renovating older established lawns that need improvement. Both maintenance and transformation services address the clay soil challenges universal to Gretna properties.

A common question is whether to wait to start a fertilizer and weed control program until after your lawn gets seeded. The answer is no—start our 6-step program as soon as possible, even if you plan to overseed later. Starting fertilizer and weed control early builds soil nutrients that benefit seed germination, kills existing weeds so new grass faces less competition, creates ideal nutrient-rich and weed-free soil conditions for successful overseeding, and allows the perfect timeline of starting fertilizer in spring then overseeding in fall with prepared soil. The best overseeding results come from lawns already enrolled in our fertilizer program because the soil is optimally prepared.
The first four weeks after overseeding are the most critical and demanding period. During this time, you must water 2-3 times daily to keep soil surface constantly damp. New grass seed has no root system yet and cannot access deeper soil moisture—it depends entirely on surface moisture for survival. Think of new seed like a newborn baby that needs frequent feeding to survive. If the surface dries out even once during germination, seeds die. This intensive requirement is temporary but absolutely essential. After four weeks, watering reduces to once daily for two weeks, then normal watering resumes. The intensive early period is what determines success or failure of your entire investment.

No, we have a minimum charge that covers up to 5,000 sq ft. Here's why we don't do small patches:
NO! Do not skip fertilizer. The fertilizer is very beneficial for new seed. Here's what happens:
We use a premium blend of 3 Turf Type Tall Fescue cultivars specifically selected for the Eastern Nebraska region. This seed blend includes varieties with excellent NTEP (National Turfgrass Evaluation Program) testing results, meaning they've proven superior performance in:
We apply 5 lbs per 1,000 sq ft as a standard rate. In very thin or completely bare areas, we apply even higher rates. This is a thick application designed to create a dense, lush lawn.
No, if you're on our 6-step fertilizer program, your soil will have plenty of nutrients for the seed. Adding starter fertilizer would create over-fertilization, which can actually harm new seedlings. Our program provides everything your seed needs to thrive.
This is THE critical factor for success. Follow this schedule exactly:
Critical: This is a guide. The soil surface MUST stay damp for seed to survive. New grass has no deep roots to access lower soil moisture—think of it like a newborn baby that needs frequent care.
We will NOT aerate or aerate and seed if sprinklers are not marked. We don't want the liability of damaged sprinklers. You must:
Minimal aftercare needed:
For aeration only: Lawn will look slightly messy for 1-2 weeks due to soil plugs on surface, but no damage. Plugs break down quickly.
For aeration & seeding: Very thin or bare areas may be completely torn up by the double-pass aeration—this is normal and beneficial. It creates maximum soil disruption for seed-to-soil contact. The lawn will look rough for 2-3 weeks, then new grass fills in beautifully.
