Milford's Solution for Weed-Free Landscape Beds
Milford's well-maintained properties feature landscape beds that enhance curb appeal and create attractive outdoor spaces. Professional weed control keeps these beds looking their best while eliminating the time-consuming task of manual weeding. Our program takes care of:
Dandelion
Henbit
Clover
Nutsedge
Crabgrass
Dozens more!
The Irrigation Requirement Explained
The pre-emergent granules sit on the soil surface after application and must be watered into the soil to activate. Water carries the product into the top layer of soil where weed seeds germinate. Without this activation watering, the pre-emergent remains on the surface and provides little to no weed prevention. Overhead irrigation or rainfall within 24-72 hours is essential for product effectiveness.
The Prevention Advantage
Prevention is dramatically more effective than reaction. Hand-pulling weeds means you're constantly fighting seeds that have already germinated and established. Pre-emergent prevention stops weeds before they start, meaning you rarely see weeds rather than constantly removing them. This proactive approach saves time and delivers superior results.
program overview

2nd Application
Late May - Early June

Key Components
Granular pre-emergent & spot spray

3rd Application
Late June - Early July

Key Components
Granular pre-emergent & spot spray

Purpose
Provides protection through peak summer growing season when weed pressure is highest.
4th application
Early September

Key Components
Granular pre-emergent & spot spray

Purpose
Controls late-season weeds and provides fall prevention as temperatures cool and fall weeds germinate.
Critical Timing for Application 1

Our first application must be completed before soil temperatures reach 55°F consistently, typically by mid-April. Once soil warms and weed seeds begin germinating, pre-emergent becomes ineffective against those weeds. Missing this early window means fighting weeds all season rather than preventing them. Our scheduling ensures optimal timing every year.
