Protecting Millard's Diverse Neighborhoods
Millard features diverse neighborhoods ranging from well-established areas to brand-new developments, and all of them face fungal challenges. Our program runs from May through September, providing continuous protection when hot and humid weather creates ideal conditions for disease. The suburban location means temperatures frequently combine with high humidity to trigger the 140 Rule. When overnight lows stay above 65°F, disease pressure becomes a constant threat throughout the entire season. This monthly program is the most effective way to guard your turf against destructive diseases like brown patch and dollar spot that can quickly ruin the appearance of your yard during the peak of summer. Common lawn diseases we treat:
Brown Patches
Dollar Spots
Powdery Mildew
Fairy Rings
Pythium Blight
Red Thread
Rust
Millard Lawn Care Guidelines
Millard homeowners can reduce disease pressure by following two essential habits that complement our professional services. The most critical rule is to water only in the early morning between 4 AM and 8 AM. Evening watering combined with natural dew keeps grass wet for 10 to 12 hours, which is exactly what fungal spores need to infect your lawn. You should also maintain a mowing height of 3.5 to 4 inches throughout the summer. Taller grass creates a stronger root system and healthier plants that handle stress better. Never scalp your lawn or remove more than one-third of the grass height in a single mowing.
Prevention Costs Less Than Repair
Many homeowners ask about the cost of fungicide, as it is more expensive than basic fertilizer. However, the alternative is much more costly; reseeding large dead areas typically costs between $300 and $800 or more. It also takes 6 to 8 weeks for new grass to grow, leaving you with ugly patches in your yard. For most Millard properties, our full season program costs less than reseeding even a few damaged areas. Prevention keeps your lawn beautiful all summer instead of forcing you to wait for new grass to grow. Dead grass from fungus is permanently gone and will not recover on its own.

How Fungicide Protection Works

Each monthly application combines curative and preventative medicines for dual-action protection. The curative part kills existing fungus on the grass blades immediately. The preventative part is absorbed through the roots and moves throughout the plant to protect new growth. This systemic protection lasts about 30 days, but it is gradually removed as you mow the treated grass tips each week. After four weekly mowings, most of the protective medicine is gone, which is why monthly reapplications are necessary. All treatments are liquid sprays applied with professional equipment for uniform coverage. You must water your lawn within 24 hours to move the medicine into the root zone.
